Many lands – Many Dams

A loop video was shown on a mobile screen as part of the installation made from paper and drawings presenting different looks of water turbines as tools of war.

Drawing, paper installation and three video channels 1 minute, 1:30 minutes & 5 minutes.

During my residency in the Czech Republic, I was inspired by the government’s action of removing the Albericky & Bolkovsky barriers along its rivers, which created the opportunity for bullhead fish to reclaim their ancestral streams. In this work, I blended narrative storytelling with visual elements, presenting them in the form of maps and fictional creatures. I envisioned a migration of aquatic creatures encountering many challenges along their journey, ranging from monstrous barriers and water turbines to altered environments. These challenges served as metaphors for pressing water issues, including habitat destruction, species extinction, and the consequences of water control.
