About

Dr
Mina Nasr is an interdisciplinary artist, activist, and researcher who lives between Cairo and Dusseldorf. His work revolves around challenging dominant narratives, creating spaces for dialogue, and inspiring social change. He draws inspiration from the histories and stories of the communities he works with, focusing on environmental justice, human rights, and identity. Nasr uses a variety of media such as drawing, sculpture, film, and installation to create his elements, which occupy spaces with the intention of inviting the audience to interact with them. His work questions how these elements can respond to or resist the political and social events that shape our world.

Nasr collaborates with artist Lamis Haggag on the “Cooking Sunshine Project.” Together, they document traditional techniques of fermenting or drying food through sunlight in various cultural contexts, spanning from Egypt to Tunisia and South Africa. As part of their initiative, they host a series of dinner and lunch events, along with workshops, aimed at engaging the communities in the areas where they reside. Their goal is to encourage the adoption of alternative mechanisms as sustainable methods for preparing communal meals and reducing emissions.
