Cooking Sunshine Art Project, Aswan, Egypt 2022
A collaborative project between the artist’s Mina Nasr & Lamis Haggag – Supported by: Fulbright Alumni Community Action Grant, USA and KLF, Tunisia.
During our stay in Aswan, we researched and documented the ancient techniques of solar cooking as well as the traditional recipes. We invited the farming communities around us to a series of dinners and lunches and workshops where we used our solar cooking device/installation to encourage them to use sustainable methods for preparing their communal meals. The host organization in Aswan, “Fekra Cultural Center”, supported our project by providing us with organic crops from their land and facilitating cultural exchange with the local people.
