“The Book of Gates” investigates barriers that restrict natural flow. Inspired by the Nile river dispute among Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, the project explores the impact of hydroelectric dams as a new form of political control, blocking the freedom of rivers and aquatic species lifecycle. Through poetic and visual narratives, I reimagined water species as human narrator, acting resistance against imposed barriers. The project raises questions about coexistence and how structures of control shape both ecological and human futures in African basin countries.
